Creating compassion for the cries of the world
With Parami
June 5 - 12, 2026
How can we, as Buddhist practitioners, respond with compassion in a world marked by chaos and uncertainty?
What is the Dharmic response to meet the cries of the world, our own and others’?
How can we draw on the richness of the Dharma to respond with honesty, courage, and inspiration?
This retreat is especially intended for people with prior experience in the Triratna Buddhist Community—particularly Mitras and Order Members—though others with relevant experience are welcome.
It will include in-depth discussion, workshop-style engagement, devotional ritual, meditation, and personal reflection. A working knowledge of key Triratna practices will be assumed, as these will not be retaught at a foundational level.
While there will be periods of silence (including overnight), this is not a silent meditation retreat. Dialogue and shared inquiry are central to exploring the themes and transforming our understanding into action.
Together, we will explore what it means to practice an engaged Buddhism—as Dharma practitioners living spiritually in times of social, economic, and ecological uncertainty.
How can we practice—individually and collectively—in a way that embodies the spirit of the Bodhisattva: grounded in wisdom, moved by compassion, and committed to awakening both ourselves and the world?
